We accept that for some, the prospect of applying to a range of top tier Business Schools from a 'non-traditional' business background may seem an overwhelming task. For others, a previous history of unsuccessful applications may have led to feelings of disappointment and frustration with what seems from the outside to be a highly selective and inaccessible set of 'ivory towers'.

Gaining acceptance at a top tier Business School is a journey that begins with the realisation that there is 'more than just medicine'. As doctors, we have studied extremely hard to gain acceptance to medical school and then worked even harder to progress through the ranks of the medical world. We have been asked to work under intense pressure, assimilating large volumes of complex information and reaching conclusions that have significant impact on the lives of those under our care.

As practising doctors, we deal with patients on a one-to-one basis, offering our medical expertise and judgement on a range of clinical cases and conditions. We work hard to 'make a difference' and often accept a poor quality of work/life balance as a result.

By opting to study for a prestigious MBA, we are accepting that there truly is 'another way' and that by combining our clinical knowledge and current skill set with a business education, we can make a difference on a far wider scale.

In order to qualify as doctors, each and every one of us has a proven track record of academic achievement, refined analytical skills, leadership experience and intellectual curiosity. These are all extremely attractive attributes that most Business Schools recognise and look for in their accepted students.

Unfortunately, most doctors do not know how to present these qualities outside of the medical forum. For years we have been applying for clinical posts and tailoring our profile towards the field of medicine. In our world, clinical research and academic prizes are the measure of success. A strong work ethic, the willingness to work under pressure and deliver an outstanding quality of service are taken for granted when we sign up to work in the medical world.

MD2MBA recognises this difficulty faced by most doctors in 'marketing' themselves effectively to Business School Admission Committees. We understand how difficult it is to present our attributes as doctors and convert them into something which is readily understood by the business community. The concept of doctors studying for a top tier MBA is by no means a novel one. In fact, over the past 5 years, the number of medical professionals applying for top Business Schools has risen significantly. The introduction of MD/MBA programs in North America is also reflective of the change in focus within the US that believes in physicians acting as health care leaders in preference to government officials.

With our service, we aim to take you from where you are now, provide a completely tailored package addressing all aspects of your profile, and bring you to the standard required for a series of competitive applications within the shortest time scale possible. With the bespoke service we offer, our target is to complete this transformation within 2-3 months. Although intensive and requiring a significant amount of time and effort on your part, we guarantee to stay by your side until such point as we are both 100% confident that you are ready to submit your applications.

Once you have received your interview offers, which we fully expect you will, we will enter with you to the next stage of the application process and offer unrivalled support and insight into this complex next step. Bearing in mind some top schools take as little as one third of applicants after interview, it is crucial that the interview is regarded as a significant obstacle to overcome rather than a 'formality'.

Should you be wait-listed rather than accepted directly onto a program, we will then help you devise suitable strategies and guide you in writing a suitable draft letter for the relevant Admissions Committee in order to increase your chances of selection.

The costs for the Bespoke Service will vary according to the amount of work required in your individual case and the number of hours our consultants need to optimise your profile. Further information can be obtained on this by contacting us at info@md2mba.com.

When considering the costs vs. benefits of the service, we would ask you to consider that the average salary for candidates post top tier MBA is $170k (£86k) rising as high as $450-500k (£230-255k) for certain careers such as Private Equity and Hedge Funds. Doctors typically command higher than average salaries due to the average length of previous work experience and the depth of their technical knowledge. MBA students also benefit from the summer internship that typically pays $2.5k (£1.3k) per week for approximately 12 weeks. In addition the average 'signing-on bonus' for MBA graduates is $35-45k (£18-£23k). This is payable either at the end of the internship or on accepting a position post MBA.
